Flatten Feature converts groups and overlapping paths into a single vector object, similar to Figma’s Flatten+Union features combined.
Most of Streamline’s icons are made of several paths, not one combined shape.
If you want one combined shape instead of several paths(that is usually the default for most icons), you can do that with the Flatten feature. It flattens groups and merges overlapping paths into one object, like Figma’s Flatten and Union.
Where to find it
The Flatten toggle is located in the icon editor toolbar, next to the Outline setting.
How it works
Flatten: Off – The icon keeps its groups and separate paths. Overlapping parts stay as individual objects.
Flatten: On – Groups are flattened and overlapping paths are merged into a single vector object (a union).
What happens when you resize an icon?
Flatten Off: The icon still has separate paths and groups, so individual parts remain independent after resizing.
Flatten On: The icon scales as one combined vector object, with the merged shape preserved.

Flatten vs Outline
Outline converts adjustable strokes into filled vector objects (like Figma’s Outline Stroke). Flatten merges groups and overlapping paths into one object (like Flatten+Union).
Use Outline when you want strokes turned into objects but still kept as separate paths. Use Flatten when you want one combined shape.
